INTRODUCTION
While development economists cannot agree on a universal definition to economic development,
there seems to be an agreement on at least one element in that definition. That is, development is the process whereby output, or more precisely, the real per capita income is increased, provided that the number of people under poverty line does not increase and that income distribution does not become more unequal[1]. Economic development theories, and economic theories for that matter, are centered on maximizing output at the lowest costs possible. The concept of economic efficiency in production is interpreted as a relation between the physical volume of production and the cost of production. In most of the western text books, economic analysis is limited to searching on the physical variables that are related to the production process. In neoclassical economics, little or no consideration is given to the continuous interaction between economics and the society that economics is projected to deal with, especially in development. Furthermore, the issue whether economics is a strictly theoretical discipline or a human and social science that deals with the factual realities of human societies, is still debated in many western text books. The terms “normative analysis” and “positive analysis” are used in some economic dictionaries to describe this ongoing debate[2]. Read more
التطرف و كيف نعالجه
للعقلاء فقط
أعشق العربية و أمقت العروبية. فالعربية وعاء القرآن و الحضارة، أما العروبية فهي تخلف داحس و الغبراء و البسوس. و ما ممالك الأعراب اليوم و جمهورياتهم و جماهيرياتهم و إماراتهم إلا إيغال في العروبية، و ليس لها من
العربية إلا أسماء سماها حكامها، ما أنزل الله بها من سلطان.
و مما أعشق في العربية هو تفصيلها في المعاني بين المصطلح و اللغة. فالتطرف لغة هو المغالاة فيما إعتاده و تعارف عليه الناس. أما إصطلاحاً فالتطرف هو الإيغال في فهم و تفسير ما قبِله الناس، و حمله إلى ما لا يقبله الناس.
فإذا إعتاد الناس بسيط المطعم و الملبس، كان الإسراف و التبذير في المطعم و الملبس تطرفاً. أما إذا إعتاد الناس البذخ و الإسراف، فيصبح الزهد و الرضى بالقليل تطرفاً. كذلك فلو قبل الناس مبدأ العدالة في توزيع الثروة، و فهم الحاكم أن العدالة تتحقق بمجرد الإستيلاء على أموال الغني و إعطائها للفقير بحجة تحقيق المساواة في توزيع الثروة، أصبح العدل جوراً و المغالاة فيه ظلم قد يكون أفدح من أصله.
من هنا فإن أي معالجة لقضية التطرف ينبغي لها أن تتسم بالعمق و الشمولية و الواقعية حتى لا يكون الخوض فيه إمعاناً في الضلال و التضليل. و من الملاحظ بأن عموم من يتحدث في التطرف لا يمتون إلى الإعتدال بصلة، فأصبح الحديث في التطرف مبعثه تطرفاً، و غايته إيغالٌ في التطرف. Read more
العمل الإسلامي بين الجنوح و الطموح
و خيار العمال بين الإستعمال و الإستبدال

العمل هو ركن من أركان الحقيقة، فالعمل هو الوسيلة التي بموجبها تصبح الفكرة واقعاً و الخيال حقيقة. و كما أن لكل بنيان أركان فكذلك العمل له خواصه و مقوماته و مفاهيمه و أطره، بل و أساليبه و نظرياته و أركانه
.
العمل قد يكون صالحاً تغتني به البشرية و ينتفع به الخلق من بشر و كائنات و بيئة، و قد يكون غير ذلك إذا إنتفت المنفعة أو إذا شاب العمل أو نتيجته أو كليهما ضرر و إن كان فيه منفعة. و هنا يخضع تقييم العمل لموازنة المنفعة و الضرر أو لتقدير المصالح و المفاسد. إلى هنا يلتقي العمل على كافة صوره، إسلامياً كان أو غيره.
و تختلف معايير تقييم العمل بإختلاف معايير المقيم للعمل، فهناك معايير النفع و القبول و الجدوى و الضرورة و غيرها التي يخضع العمل لها في التقييم. Read more
واقع الأمة: بين أزمة العولمة و عولمة الأزمة
عندما يصبح الوعي ترفاً!!! (الجزء الأول)

نحاول في هذه المقالة التعرف، في عجالة، على إشكالية الوعي و أثرها على الأزمات المعاصرة. الجزء الأول من المقالة هو محاولة لتشخيص إشكالية الوعي. و نتعرف في الجزء الثاني “حتى لا يصبح الوعي ترفاً” على سبل 
الخروج من الإشكالية و معالجة هذه الأزمات.
إن المتابع لأحوال هذا الزمان يخلص إلى نتيجة مفادها أن الأزمة أصبحت ظاهرة ملازمة مألوفة لجميع أحوال المجتمعات و الشعوب، و على مختلف المستويات، حتى أصبحت صفة غالبة بدلاً من أن تكون مجرد حالة إستثنائية.
أما مظاهر هذه الأزمة و أبعادها فأصبحت من الشيوع حيث لم يعد إدراكها قاصراً على نخبة فكرية أو ثقافية، أو على مرحلة عمرية أو طبقة إجتماعية أو إقتصادية بعينها. بل و إن الأزمة تخطت حدود الجغرافيا و الثقافات حتى باتت ظاهرة عالمية شمولية. Read more
Did You Say What I Thought You Did?

Dear Mr. President,
I watched along with my fellow Americans your state of the union address, and I am just not sure of what I heard you saying.
Did you say that it was Muslims who had pictures and maps of our nuclear plants and vital sites? Are you sure you were not talking about the 6 Israeli Mossad agents arrested in the Midwest on October 27, 2001, or the 140 arrested for espionage against America? Or the 600 Israeli spies that we detained after September 11? Or the Israeli Mossad agents who were on the scene of the attacks against our embassies in Nairobi and Dar Salaam long before our personnel got there?
Did you refer to Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Hizbullah as terrorists? Do you know that in spite of all our sickening support to the terrorist Israel, refraining from attacking American targets and civilians remains at the highlight of the struggle and a firm policy of these very organizations?
Are you sure you did not mean Israel when you were talking about the terrorist who never ceases plotting against our country and citizens?
Is this finally the truth of our definition to terrorism as the ones who actually fight freedom and life with dignity, and to our friends and allies as the ones who never cease terrorism? Are you telling us that we suffer from “abused-nation syndrome,” where we just cannot have enough of our Israeli abusers?
Did I hear you supporting faith-based charities? Aren’t all the ones we seized during the Holy month of Ramadan just that? I hope you are not talking about Christian-based missionaries to poison Muslim minds and lands.
Your State of the Union Address reminded all of us of the importance of education
– education that is based on factual knowledge, not education of distortion.
Now more than ever, I plea to the Almighty with most fearful heart: “May God watch over our beloved country and our people.”
